It wasn't until I looked at me
Looking back at me remembering what I'd be
so long ago

Drifting into whist
when I should have been paying attention in class

When I should have been planning a path to success

paving a drive to destination

Instead, I polished a mirror that I would face,
my face in a glass reaching long into me
my gaze going far into the now when I reflect
back to those eyes.

And in my eyes I see....

a reflection.

My father's determination
My grandfather's easy laugh

Their pictures, frames carefully dusted
Look back at me
Into my Long Mirror

      and I am simply

      reflected.
